Graham Rolfe signs out of Sugar Company

In accordance with Section 3.59(b) of the Lusaka Securities Exchange Listings Rules, the Board of Directors of Zambia Sugar PLC wishes to announce the resignation of Mr. Graham Rolfe as an Executive member of the Company’s Board of Directors effective 1 June 2020”, read a statement issued by Company Secretary Mwansa Mutimushi on 1st June 2020.

Graham who has been with the sugar company since October 2014, joined as the Project Manager before taking over as Operations Director, according to his LinkedIn Profile. The project he managed was the Product Alignment and Refinery Project (PAAR).

The Nakambala Product Alignment and Refinery (PAAR) project at Nakambala Sugar Mill in Mazabuka, Zambia, is one of the largest projects Bosch Projects has undertaken to date”, according to an article written by Antony kiganda and published by constructionreviewonline.com in July 2017. “Illovo Sugar appointed Bosch Projects as engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) consultants for its subsidiary Zambia Sugar’s Nakambala expansion project”.

With the exit of Graham, Marc Pousson takes over as an executive director. “Furthermore, the Company wishes to announce the appointment of Mr. Marc Pousson as an executive director of the Board effective 1 June 2020”. He holds a diploma in Electrical Engineering with over 25 years of experience in the sugar processing industry.

What is interesting is that Marc has previously served on the Board as Director of Operations from 2013 to 2016. “He is currently the General Manager/Director of Nchalo Sugar Estate and has spent the bulk of his career working under several positions within the Illovo Sugar Group”. He, therefore, steps into a familiar role at the sugar company which has embarked on a strategic path that has seen it improve earnings and target reduction of debt over the coming years.
