Democratic Republic of Congo -DRC- Minister of External Trade, Jean-Lucien Bussa Tongba says his country and Zambia should have the best trade portfolio in the region.
Mr. Tongba says this is because the two countries share two mining provinces, Katanga in the DRC and Copperbelt on the Zambian side.
The DRC Minister was speaking when he called on Copperbelt Province Minister
Japhen Mwakalombe at his office, in the company of Commerce Minister Christopher Yaluma.
And Katanga Governor Jacques Kyabula Katwe noted that a lot needs to
be done to enhance the capacity of trade between the neighbouring nations.
Earlier, Mr. Mwakalombe said the bilateral joint ministerial meeting which Zambia is hosting is timely.
He said the Copperbelt remains the economic heart of Zambia as a mining region and called for accelerated trade with the DRC.
And Mr. Yaluma said there is need for continued reviews of bilateral trade agreements to improve trade.
