260 Brands is pleased to announce that it has successfully held the inauguration of Zambia’s first plant – based milk factory at 260 Brands offices in Lusaka.
The ceremony was graced by the Minister of Commerce, Trade & Industry, Honourable Chipoka Mulenga. Other guests included H.E. Karolina Stasiak, Ambassador of the EU to Zambia & COMESA, Mr. Tellef Thorleifsson, CEO Norfund, Mr. Peter Wiebler, Mission Director USAID, Ms. Muntanga Lindunda, CEO Zambia Association of Manufacturers, local & international business partners, members of the press & other distinguished guests. Â The establishment of Zambia’s first plant-based milk factory marks a pivotal moment in 260 Brands journey towards a more sustainable, diverse & environmentally friendly agro-processing industry through value addition, which plays a crucial role in enhancing the economic viability of our agricultural sector. Â By harnessing the potential of soybeans, 260 Brands is contributing to the diversification of our economy, reducing our reliance on traditional raw commodities, & expanding our revenue streams.
The birth of NutraMilk, Zambia’s first plant-based milk, which has already received two prestigious awards from the Zambia Association of Manufacturers in 2022 as Product of the Year & New Innovative Product of the Year at the Africa Foods Awards in Kenya, is a testament of our commitment to a quality alternative to dairy milk for Zambia & international markets.  In the spirit of innovation and celebration of freedom, 260 Brands also introduced NutraSip, Africa’s first plant-based juice blend.  260 Brands is actively working with over 6,000 farmers in Zambia to certify them organic, with a target to reach 12,000 farmers by the end of the next harvest season  260 Brands recognizes the support of its partners, who believe in their vision. Norfund’s investment in 260 Brands is a milestone that speaks to the international recognition of the potential that lies within the Zambian agro-processing sector. In addition to Norfund’s support, various impact partners have supported 260 Brands to bring this project to fruition, that include Prospero; Musika, SNV; USAID & the European Union.  260 Brands recognizes the dynamic support of Zambia Association of Manufacturers, who have been instrumental in driving the manufacturers’ agenda in Zambia. Their commitment to driving industrial growth & development in Zambia is truly commendable.  Finally, the supportive environment provided by the Zambian government, as outlined in their National Development Plan, has been instrumental in enabling manufacturers like 260 Brands to reinvest in the manufacturing industry, celebrating 26 years in Zambia today.
