FrieslandCampina WAMCO completes acquisition of Nutricima’s Dairy business

Friesland Campina WAMCO has acquired Nutricima’s dairy company in Nigeria. This is to help the business increase its presence in Nigeria.

A statement said Nutricima will be merged into Friesland Campina WAMCO Nigeria PLC.

It added that an agreement for the acquisition was signed by Friesland Campina and PZ Cussons in March.

The dairy business, Nutricima was established in 2005.

Some of the brands associated with the company are Coast and Nunu.

These products have a great presence in Nigeria and some West African countries including Ghana.

Friesland Campina WAMCO has purchased a number of powdered, evaporated and, ready-to-drink milk products from the company’s production facility in Ikorodu, Lagos State, and the Olympic, Coast, and Nunu brands.

By this acquisition, FrieslandCampina gets additional production capacity to meet the growing dairy demand by Nigerian consumers for locally manufactured products.

The President of Friesland Campina Consumer Dairy, Roel van Neerbos stated that “Friesland Campina WAMCO has been a key player in Nigeria since 1954. With this acquisition, we demonstrate our strong commitment to Nigeria and its dairy market.”

On his part, the Managing Director of Friesland Campina WAMCO Nigeria, Ben Langat said; “It is our mission to bring affordable and attainable quality dairy products to all Nigerians and meet the growing demand. That’s why we are pleased with this acquisition.”

The company continues to invest in capital expenditure to help increase production. These new investments include a factory and a world-class learning academy to develop skills across functions and accelerate the growth of talent.

The company recently commissioned a state-of-the-art local production plant for Peak Yogurt. After meeting all requirements, FrieslandCampina WAMCO has started operations at the newly acquired plant.
